City Review: Madrid, Spain
Since the moment I arrived in Madrid in 2020, I was captivated by the grand architecture, bustling streets, and lively atmosphere that the city has to offer. This came rather as a surprise to me. While Spain is mostly known for its coastal cities that are more attractive to tourists in the summer such as Barcelona, Valencia or Marbella, Madrid is often overlooked and remains, in the minds of many, as simply the capital of Spain, where nothing much seems to happen.
However, this city is rich in history and culture, evident in its stunning museums and art galleries, as well as its traditional neighborhoods such as La Latina and Lavapiés. But what really sets Madrid apart is the warmth and friendliness of its people. Whether sipping café con leche in a cozy café or enjoying a night out in the vibrant nightlife scene, I always felt welcomed and embraced by the locals. Madrid truly has it all - from world-class cuisine to stunning parks and gardens, and everything in between.
Another benefit of living in Madrid is the city's ranking as a top place to live. In recent years, Madrid has consistently ranked highly in global lists of the best cities to live in, thanks to its high quality of life and relatively low cost of living compared to other major European cities. The city is also known for its friendly and welcoming locals, which can make it an especially attractive place for those who are moving from abroad. In fact, in recent years, many foreigners have chosen Madrid as their new home.
